Cherry Blossom trees are always spectacular. Seeing them in my sister-in-law’s neighborhood certainly beats fighting crowds in DC.

Apple is going a little far with their F1 promotion. I don’t even know how they pushed the ad there.

In unrelated news, I am shopping for a new gas oven.

Picking up dinner I looked up and the moon was a Cheshire Cat grinning down on me.

First Junk Journal completed

For the last year, I’ve been junk journaling. Taking stickers and pamphlets and labels, receipts, junk mail and photos and making pages with them. Some are meaningful. Others are silly. There’s plenty of art museums we’ve visited. There’s plays on words and images.

This has been a therapeutic practice for me. The journal asks nothing of me. It doesn’t need to be “good”. It’s not a fine art piece to hold up and say look at what I made.

It’s a practice to keep myself sane. To vent. To explore. To make something with my hands. It’s a way to remember where I went and what I did. It’s a physical manifestation of the passage of time.

It is not a story. It does not make sense. It exists because it feels good. And I am excited to start my new book.

Soft pink sunrise

This morning had the most beautiful soft pink sunrise. It had long tendrils of color streaking across the sky.

I went outside to take this picture before the colors changed. It always goes so quick.

Seneca Creek State Park Winter Lights Festival

Rode through the Seneca Creek State Park Winter Lights Festival with my friend John and his family in Yukon Cornelius. It’s fun looking at Christmas lights with a group.

The big caterpillar reminded me of Alice in Wonderland.

There is a very slim chance that I may have just enough Christmas birds.

Sneaking treats

When you thrift, you end up with bags of goodies and leftover dolls. So you hide them around the house with candy

Sheet pan chicken with chick peas

Made one of my favorite, easy dinners tonight. One thing I’ve added is to drain and roll the chick peas around on the sheet pan with paper towels to remove some of the skins and dry them out. This helps to make them crispier when they cook.

It turned out perfectly tonight. One of the few times my finished dish resembled the recipe photo.

Southern Lights

Tried seeing if there’s any trace of the aurora we’re supposed to be able to see tonight. And I have the reverse. The road is colorful but the sky is all white.
